Dermaplaning can
remove years from your appearance.
Dermabrasion, also
known as dermaplaning or surgical skin planing, is a cosmetic skin
treatment used to diminish the appearance of scars, acne scarring,
facial spots, wrinkles, or tattoos. It may also be used to remove
pre-cancerous cells on the face.
Through a careful
method of surgical scraping, the outer layers of skin are removed,
resulting in new, smoother skin after a brief period of healing. It
may be performed on the entire face or only to specific problem areas.
In some cases, a second treatment may be required for best results.
The best
candidates for dermabrasion are individuals with badly damaged skin
from acne scarring or, accidents, or surgery. A chemical peel may also
be an alternative to dermabrasion. The difference is that dermabrasion
is performed with surgical instruments, but a chemical peel is done
with a chemical solution. It is possible to combine both treatments
depending on your individual needs, or to combine dermabrasion with a
face lift or other surgical procedure.

Dermabrasion or
dermaplaning are surgical methods used to "refinish" the skin's top
layers through a method of controlled surgical scraping, and/or "sand
blasting" These treatments soften, the edges of surface
irregularities, giving the skin a smoother appearance.
Dermabrasion can be used
to improve the look of facial skin which has been scarred by accidents
or a previous surgery, or to smooth out fine facial wrinkles.
Dermaplaning is commonly used to treat deep acne scars.
Dermabrasion and
dermaplaning can be performed on small areas of skin or on the entire
face. Each procedure can be used alone, or in conjunction with other
procedures such as facelift, scar removal or revision, or chemical
peels.
Dermabrasion and
dermaplaning is performed quickly, and. the procedures usually take
from a few minutes to an hour and a half, depending on how large an
area of skin is involved. It's more common then not for these
procedure to be performed more than once, or in stages, especially
when scarring is deep or a large area of skin is involved.
